Whenua Kai Cafe has been owned by Bream Bay locals Jon and Jane Smith for over 15 years.

Jon is our head chef and specializes in creating dishes that fuse traditional Maori flavours with a modern flourish. Our food is organic and we use only fresh, high quality, local ingredients.

Here at Whenua Kai we are passionate about the environment, that's why we use biodegradable packaging and sustainable business practices.

When you visit Whenua Kai you are surrounded by wonderful local attractions and outdoor activities. Walk along the prisitine white sands of Ruakaka Beach and watch regular Surf Lifesaving competitions hosted by the Ruakaka Surf Club. Grab the kids and head to the recently upgraded and modernised Ruakaka Town Centre with the popular Ruakaka Skate Park and sports fields next door. Make a special trip to the newly completed Ruakaka Recreation Centre and watch out for the local craft markets to score wonderful gift ideas.
